Hugh Jackman Tests Positive for COVID, ‘Music Man’ Cancels Shows

Hugh Jackman has tested positive for COVID-19, causing performances of Broadway’s ‘The Music Man’ to be cancelled through January 1st. Jackman stars as the lead role in the musical revival of Meredith Wilson’s ‘The Music Man’. However, like many other shows, it’s struggling to keep performances on schedule as Omicron infects Cast & Crew members. Sutton Foster, Jackman’s co-star, recently tested positive for the virus, forcing Foster to miss numerous performances.

Foster will return on Jan 2nd, with Jackman on track to perform again from Jan 6th. ‘The Music Man’ has been one of Broadway’s hottest shows, with sell-out performances and high demand for tickets.

Jackman confirmed he had contracted Coronavirus in a social media post. In the video, Jackman said “My symptoms are like a cold, I have a scratchy throat and a bit of a runny nose – but I’m fine”.

Jackman only recently praised the work of understudies in a viral video. Understudies and Swings have significantly helped the theatre industry stay afloat, covering for main cast members upon illness.
