EA Confirms No Star Wars News Till Next Year

After speculation that EA will showcase new Star Wars games at EA Play Live this year, EA has shut down the rumours. They confirmed on Twitter that no new Star Wars Games will be shown at EA Play Live, on July 22nd.

This news comes as a disappointment to fans who have been waiting for news on the follow-up to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. A sequel is reportedly being created but we’ve had no updates or news on this in recent months. Fans were hoping for an official reveal for the Fallen Order sequel or maybe a new Star Wars Game. But it looks like we’ll have to wait till next year for any official news or gameplay.

The tweet said that they will not be “showing any new Star Wars Games” – an emphasis on “Games” could confirm that they have multiple Star Wars projects in the works. EA recently skipped hosting a conference at the prestigious E3 event. This may be due to the fact they have a big announcement that didn’t want to be overshadowed by other studios’ presentations. It’s expected EA will revive a popular IP – possibly Dead Space.

Announced in January, Ubisoft is working on an open-world Star Wars game which isn’t expected for another few years. EA has an exclusivity deal to be the only publisher of Star Wars Games till 2023. Therefore, Ubisoft‘s Star Wars game won’t release till after this date. Besides, Ubisoft is currently working hard on an open-world game based on James Cameron’s Avatar, scheduled to release next year.
