Loki Renewed for Season 2 at Disney+
After a game-changing season finale, the Disney+ Original Series will return for a second season. It was revealed at the end of the episode, which started streaming today, “Loki will return in Season 2.”.
Loki is the first Marvel Disney+ Original Series to get a second season, with shows like Wandavision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, not scoring a renewal. The show has been met with acclaim from critics and audiences, following its streaming debut in June. Loki was reportedly the most-watched season premiere ever on Disney+, beating Wandavision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The season finale of Loki will most likely lead into upcoming Marvel films Spider-Man: No Way Home and Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Loki follows the MCU’s iconic villain/anti-hero after he was last seen causing mischief in Avengers: Endgame. He soon finds ends up at the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and embarks on an adventure. The Series sees Tom Hiddleston reprise the title role, joined by Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugulethu Mbatha-Raw and Wunmi Mosaku.
Season 1 of Loki is streaming now on Disney+. No further details for Season 2 of Loki have been revealed.
Upcoming Marvel projects on Disney+ include the animated Series What If… streaming in August, and Hawkeye which is set to stream later this year. Ms. Marvel is also expected to debut in late 2021. Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, is currently in the works.
She-Hulk with Tatiana Maslany, Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth is set for a 2022 release. Secret Invasion with an all-star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman and Emilia Clarke, is still in development. Ironheart, Armor Wars and I Am Groot are still in the works.
