Apple Spring Event 2021 Recap

Apple made quite a few announcements at its Spring Event on 20th April 2021. From the M1 iPad Pro to AirTags to coloured iMacs, there is a lot to delve into.

iPhone 12 – New Purple Colour 

Apple started the event off by revealing a new Purple Colour for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini. The new finish complements the beautiful flat-edge design of iPhone 12, which features an advanced dual-camera system, Super Retina XDR display with the Ceramic Shield front cover, A14 Bionic, and 5G.

The aluminium purple finish is protected by the Ceramic Shield front cover for the biggest jump in durability ever on iPhone. Pre-order in the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini in Purple from 1 PM on 23rd April, available on the 30th April.

 

AirTag 

Apple also introduced its brand new product, the AirTag. Apple’s AirTag will enable you to find and keep track of your belongings via the Find My app. 

Apple-designed AirTag accessories include the Leather Key Ring in Saddle Brown, (PRODUCT)RED, and Baltic Blue for £35; the Leather Loop in Saddle Brown and (PRODUCT)RED for £39; and the Polyurethane Loop in White, Deep Navy, Sunflower, and Electric Orange for £29.

Apple has collaborated with Hermès for the AirTag’s accessories including the Premium Bag Charm and Key Ring in Fauve Barénia, Bleu Indigo, and Orange leather. Also on offer is the Luggage Tag and Travel Tag in Fauve Barénia leather, all of which will be available on Friday 30th April.

Apple TV 4K

Apple announced the next generation of Apple TV 4K, delivering high frame rate HDR with Dolby Vision. At the heart of the new Apple TV 4K is the A12 Bionic chip that provides a significant boost in graphics performance, video decoding, and audio processing.

With an all-new design, the Siri Remote makes it even easier to watch shows and movies on Apple TV with convenient navigation controls. Together with tvOS, Apple TV 4K works seamlessly with Apple devices and services to transform streaming in ways that everyone in the family will love.

Order the new Apple TV 4K from Friday, April 30, with availability beginning in the second half of May. Prices start at £169.

 

New iPad Pro

Apple revealed their most powerful and advanced iPad Pro ever, pushing the limits of what’s possible on iPad. The addition of the Apple-designed M1 chip delivers a massive leap in performance, making iPad Pro the fastest device of its kind. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro features a new Liquid Retina XDR display that brings extreme dynamic range to iPad Pro, offering a stunning visual experience with more true-to-life details to the most demanding HDR workflows.

Cellular models with 5G deliver even faster wireless connectivity when on the go, and to provide users with pro-level throughput for high-speed accessories, iPad Pro now includes support for Thunderbolt. Additionally, an all-new Ultra Wide front camera enables Centre Stage, a new feature that automatically keeps users perfectly framed for even more engaging video calls. The new iPad Pro is available to order from Friday 30th April and will be available in the second half of May.

The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at £749 for the Wi-Fi model and £899 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at £999 for the Wi-Fi model and £1149 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. 

 

New iMac

The all-new iMac features a much more compact and remarkably thin design, enabled by the M1 chip. The new 24-inch iMac is available to order from Friday 30th April, arriving to customers in the second half of May.

iMac with 7-core GPU starts at £1,249 and is available in green, pink, blue, and silver. It features an 8-core CPU, 8GB of unified memory, 256GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, Magic Keyboard, and Magic Mouse.
