Adele’s ’30’ Becomes Best-Selling Album of 2021 in 3 Days

Following its release on Friday, Adele’s first album in six years has become 2021’s Best Selling Album in the US. ’30’ has achieved this impressive milestone in just 3 days. By Sunday, over 500,000 copies had been sold in the US, according to data from Billboard.

So far in the UK, ‘30′ has sold more than 167,000 copies, closing in on ABBA’s latest album, Voyage. ABBA’s first album in 40 years brought in 204,000 UK album sales in week one. Adele’s latest album will most likely become the selling album of 2021 in the UK too, by the end of the week. 

Adele’s ’30’ has beaten Taylor Swift’s Evermore, which was previously the biggest album of 2021. Evermore sold 462,000 by the end of its first week – slightly behind Adele’s 500,000.

Upon its release in October, Adele’s first song from the album, Easy On Me, became the most streamed song in a single day on Spotify. Adele helped to bring a new feature to Spotify, asking the streaming service to remove the default shuffle button on Albums. Her reasoning behind this is so that listeners can experience the music as artists intended.

Adele has taken the world by storm over the past few weeks, with billboards appearing all over the world, along with plenty of interviews and TV Specials. ‘An Audience With Adele‘ debuted on British TV on Sunday, with Idris Elba, Samuel L. Jackson and Emma Thompson among those in attendance. ‘Adele: One Night Only‘ was a hit on US TV, premiering on CBS on Nov. 14th. The TV Special included a concert along with an interview by Oprah Winfrey.
